There are at least few ways of building stove or chimney-piece:
Stove with a hearth and window (glass) – a combination of a traditional hearth with a modern advantage giving improved heating results.

Chimney-piece with open hearth – the most traditional form of chimney-piece with “open fire”.
Chimney-piece with modular hearth (glass window) – modern and populat solution for chimney-pieces.
